Sitting amongst the businesses, apartment buildings, and car warehouses of my neighbourhood is a regular rest stop of mine - Surugaya. This store is a paradise for collectors, gamers, and pop culture fans. If you have a love for rare video games, vintage anime figures, or trading cards, stepping into Surugaya feels like sinking into a treasure trove.
Surugaya is one of Japan’s popular second-hand stores specializing in geek culture merchandise. I've hunted for all sorts - from PlayStation classics, nostalgic manga series, to limited-edition Digimon model kits, and I'm always fascinated by something new waiting on the shelves. The store's meticulous organization and sheer amount of stuff to look through both excites and overwhelms me (in a great way)!
I count myself fortunate to live close to a few of these places, however I've also gone the online route and had plenty of characters from all over the fandom universe arrive at my front door. It's not as therapeutic as looking through everything by hand, but the end result is just as rewarding!
Within a busy lifestyle, I've felt at home between the walls of characters and I'm perpetually excited for my next wander in! Go there if you get the chance to - do it for geek's sake!
